Homemade Beauty Remedies
I haven’t really blogged in a minute, and its purely because I’ve been doing some relaxing time. Campus closed about a month ago and all I’ve been doing is catching up on my series and spending time with family and friends.Another thing that’s been keeping me busy is research, beauty research to be exact. I love trying new things and sharing my experiences with anyone that will listen. So I thought why not blog my findings, I’m almost certain you guys will benefit from it. Many of us are sceptical about using home remedies and would rather continue with our tried and tested beauty products. I myself was the biggest skeptic and until I tried it , I didn’t believe that these remedies actually worked.
Here are 2 of my favourite, easy to make, best kept homemade secrets.
Lemon, Honey and Tumeric Face Mask
This combination is honestly so amazing, I use this mask on a regular basis. Here are some of its benefits:
- Lightens and brightens the face naturally – Perfect for uneven skin tone.
- Tumeric is an Anti-inflamatory – Reduces swelling and helps soothe skin
- Honey has antibacterial qualities – Gets rid of unwanted germs on the skin and also brings out the skins natural radiance.
2 parts honey
1 parts lemon juice (fresh lemon)
4 parts Tumeric powder
Apply to face and neck area – rinse of after 10 -15 min and continue with normal skin care routine.
Lemon and Baking Soda Body Scrub
Because lemon naturally lightens skin, it is great to use in an exfoliating scrub for dark areas on the body. Knees and elbows are our most common problem areas and with regular use those areas will be less of a problem. This scrub can also be used to fade a sun tan, although make certain not to use it on a sun burn.
The Baking soda in this recipe is solely for exfoliating purposes.
2 parts lemon juice
4 parts baking soda
