An Inner City Force
With this being the last post in “The City Girl Diaries” series for a while, my team and I wanted to showcase one of our favourite spots in Johannesburg city that would be perfect for you to visit in the upcoming festive season… Braamfontien.
This series has shown only a few of our cities treasures, there are many many others which I personally have not tried yet.
For now though the previous post and this one show the places I have explored and loved. I guess to find out about the rest, I will have to be a tourist in my own city, so we will leave the touristing to the new year.
Okay so Braamfontein ( which is where these photos were taken ) is situated just on the boundary of Johannesburg city and is home to many cosmo restaurants, bars and venues, one of which is the famous Neighbourgoods Market.
Braamfontien is by far the best place to be on a Saturday morning.
The Neighbourgoods market is open between 9am and 3pm on a Saturday only , but other restaurants and popular spots in the area are open all week till late. No matter the type of Saturday you intend on having Braam has something for you. Braam is also home to many amazing clothing brands such as Parooz Fashions and Me and You clothing, which is where you would find me after indulging at Neighbourgoods of course.
I’m super in love with my Nike Airforces , I have quite a small frame, so sneakers don’t always look great on me, I sometimes feel that I’m trying to force a trend on myself, I often doubt whether I would look good in a trend or not, I suppose it’s like any other fashion dilemma, you have to find the trendy thing that suits your body and style, not build your style around the trend. This was definitely the case with these women’s Airforce, as I felt comfortable immediately, they have quite a thin frame, so it avoids a clumsy look.
Other than my sneakers, I kept the look very 90s inspired by adding a men’s sports jersey, and maroon bandana to finish of my look. There are no rules when trying the 90s trend, personally the 90s were all over the place, so adding layered chains or even upping your makeup game would work. Try channel Alliyah’s dare devil looks when wearing the 90s trend.
What I’m wearing-
Sports Jersey – Menswear at MRP
Pleather Pants – CO. at Cotton On
Womens Nike Airforce – The Cross Trainer
Bandana – MRP
Gold Bracelet – Sass Diva ( no longer available)
Until next time
